Two Lectures were Held by English Department of College of Foreign Languages

In the afternoon of July 20th, 2017, two lectures were held by English Department. The first one “Verb Classes and Their Linguistic Behaviors” was given by Professor Hee-chul Lee, English Education Department in University of Quanbei Korea. The second one, "the Great Gatsby" and the “American Dream" was delivered by Professor Seongho Yoon, from South Korea Hanyang University. From the perspective of linguistics and literature, the lecture showed students profound language activities and cultural bases. Linguistics focused on the specific application of English verbs in language activities and nuances, while the literature was based on the analysis of "the American dream in the great Gatsby", which revealed the contradiction between material pursuit and cruel reality. The purpose of this lecture is to make students realize that language learners should further discover the multilevel language and cultural connotations contained under the surface of languages.

Hee-chul Lee is the director of English Education Department in Korea Quanbei University, the former Quanbei University International Exchange Commissioner, visiting professor at Boise State University, president of Language Education College in Quanbei University, the editorial chairman of "the Language". Seongho Yoon is the director of Hanyang University, visiting professor of Massachusetts University, research professor of Sungkyunkwan University, current editor of "Hanyang" Journal, the editorial board of "the Study on American Literature”, the secretary general of Korean Literature and Film Association, the secretary general of "English Language and Literature Study", the editorial board of “Art and Literature Research".
