Yanbian University Won the 3rd in the National Final of “the 20th FLTRP Cup National Debate Competition”
The National Final of the “20th FLTRP Cup National Debate Competition”, sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Federation of Students and Beijing Foreign Studies University, was held in China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing, Changping, by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press from May 18 to May 25, 2017. There were more than 500 institutions, nearly 100,000 people registered to the contest. 122 teams from North China, South China, East China, West China Division Final came to the National Final. Our school debate team made it to the Final as the only team from Jilin Province, winning 2ndprize in North-Eastern Division of the “20th FLTRP Cup National Debate Competition” after a long fierce competition of schools and districts. Our debate team was led by Prof. Ji Mingli and Li Hongmei from College of Foreign Languages. Debaters were Cui Hongyue from 2014 College of Foreign Languages and Luo Yan from 2015 Institute of Engineering.
After seven days and eight rounds’ of fierce competition, Yanbian University won the third prize. This is the second time that our school made to the National Final of the FLTRP Cup National Debate Competition in 5-year participation, which fully shows the oral English level and critical thinking ability of our school students.
