A forum on college foreign language teaching reform was held by CFL at the Comprehensive Building on January 13, 2015. Those who attended the forum included Zhang Qinggao and Cui Xiangzhe from Teaching Affairs Office, Jin Ri from College of Inter-Korean Studies, Cui Xuebo from English Department, and Zheng Xiangyi and other teachers from the College of Foreign Language Teaching and Research Department. Professor Zheng Xianri hosted the forum. Teaching section chiefs, based on the YBU’s Plan for College Foreign Language Teaching Mode Reform, delivered their reports on the instructional mode reform, which began in May2014, concerning the curriculum system, instructional objectives, course contents, teaching methodology and means, evaluation and testing means, nameplate classes, students’ free choice of courses, online teaching, collective preparation for lectures, and teachers’ mutual evaluation. The staff members in charge put forward their suggestions and solutions to the major problems in the reform. Zhang Qinggao, chief of Teaching Affairs Office, affirmed our preliminary achievements and held that college foreign language teaching reform should focus on improving our students’ listening and speaking abilities. We should break with the traditional teaching mode by linking course contents with learners’ interest, connecting the teaching reform with the teaching research project, and combining the curriculum building with the faculty’s training. He concluded that the next step would focus on the reform in the testing system and means, so as to promote the paperless process in YBU’s college foreign language tests.
